The summer holidays are well and truly over with most children now back at school, so here at the Foundation it’s a chance for us to reflect fondly on our summer activities.
One of our many successes this year has been our Dance Camp. The camp ran weekly from the second week of the holidays for boys and girls ages 5-13, covering styles from musical theatre to breakdancing and street dance.
Every camp concluded with a performance for parents and family so that the young people could showcase what they’d learned, and every participant received a medal for taking part.
We had a solid core of dancers, with 25 unique participants boogying on down during the summer and many of those returning each week.
Sarah Minshall, Inclusion Manager for the Port Vale Foundation, said: “Dance offers an alternative to football for children who want to keep active.”
“We had a range of children sign up, from beginners to those who have been dancing for a number of years, and they all got the opportunity to express themselves and try new moves. It was brilliant to see a lot of the children trying to learn from each other as well.”
Just because our summer camp is over doesn’t mean that your child misses out – we run weekly sessions every Tuesday evening from 5:00-6:00pm as part of our Premier League Kicks programme, at a cost of only £3 per child per session!
